Marketing Opportunity: Winter Activities
at B&Bs
A national publication is interested in winter activities that
are available at B&Bs. These activities can be indoor as well
as outdoor. So whether it's snowshoeing, Christmas ornament making,
cross-country skiing, sleigh rides, or any winter activities that
you either offer onsite or will assist guests with the details and
preparation, we'd love to hear what you have to offer!
Please include your name, the name of your establishment, details
of your activity, and your contact information and send your submissions
to stacey@paii.org!
PAII News
& Announcements: PAII Board of Directors Meets in New Jersey
The PAII Board of Directors met for the first time in New Jersey
this past week. The schedule included a tour of the PAII office
and lunch with the PAII staff. PAII managers were able to deliver
their Board reports in person and to get direct feedback from our
knowledgeable and supportive directors. We are fortunate to have
PAII member The Haddonfield Inn (www.haddonfieldinn.com)
close by, and we thank Nancy and Fred Chorpita for their hospitality
while Board members were at the inn. They have a great crab quichelook
for their recipe in this issue of INNfo. Thanks, also, to
our terrific PAII Board:
Debbie Mosimann, Swiss Woods, Lititz, PA (Chairwoman)
Dan Brown, Swift House Inn, Middlebury, VT (Vice Chairman)
John Felton, One Main B&B, Stockbridge, MA (Secretary)
Jo Ann Bell, PAII Founder, Santa Barbara, CA

Forum Digest: Bad Review in Travel Yahoo & More
If you have not had time to log on to the Forum
located in the Members
Only section of www.paii.org,
here are some of the interesting topics that have been discussed
this past week.
Bad Review in Travel
Yahoo
Just in case someone else gets a bad review on Yahoo, read on. I
emailed Yahoo and explained that the people who were rating me never
stayed in my inn. I thought the rating unfair and Yahoo agreed.
Yahoo removed the review. Just in case you get what you feel is
an unfair rating, Yahoo does respond. You just have to let them
know.
Good Combo Lock
What would you recommend for a key safe combo lock to be attached
to the door? I have one now but it is hard for my guests to replace
the key.
Re Previous Post: Scratchy Towels #9
We recommend using Cheer Free & Gentle for towels with
color. It is true that if you use too much soap it will leave a
residue in the towels. Many innkeepers do not have the time to do
two rinses. So we recommend using vinegar in your last rinse to
release the soap residue. Using softeners or Bounce sheets
will leave a coating on your towels which will make them less absorbent.
We recommend the vinegar rinse and you can also use baking soda
in your wash cycle. These will both leave your towels soft and with
a pleasant smell. You will not have a vinegar smell "leftover"
so do not concern yourselves about that when you use vinegar in
your last rinse.
French Toast Without Eggs, Please!
Yesterday, I received my strangest request yet for breakfast. As
most of you know by now, I cook to order so my guests can usually
have whatever they want for breakfast (within reason). I'm used
to the "I don't eat meat" or "Could you do that with
soy milk", but yesterday was "I'd like french toast without
eggs, please."
Is PAII Membership Worth the $$$
I suppose each of us have our own answer. Here is mine. The PAII
Forum will have saved me perhaps tens of thousands of dollars in
the 2 years I have been back as a member of the PAII organization.
PAII Website Visitors at your B&B?
My question centers on the number of visitors arriving through my
PAII website email. Do you think that PAII should "focus"
on making its website the #1 site for the tourist industry?

PAII Food Feature: Haddonfield
Inn Crab Quiche Recipe
Let us feature a recipe from your inn!
Please send your submission (and a photo of the dish if available)
to stacey@paii.org.
To satisfy your guests' salivation for sea fare, Nancy and Fred
Chorpita at the Haddonfield Inn feature this recipe for crab quiche
on their website (www.haddonfieldinn.com):
Ingredients
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1 cup crab meat
1 cup diced Swiss cheese
1/2 cup chopped green onions
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, beat together eggs, mayonnaise, flour, and milk
until thoroughly blended. Stir in crab, cheese, and onion. Spread
into pie shell. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until a knife inserted
in the center comes out clean.

PAII Pointer: Dusting "Don't Forgets"
When it's time to rake November
leaves, it's not a bad idea to rake away all that's fallen indoors,
as well. As Thanksgiving approaches, however, the Spring Cleaner
that was in us 7 months ago may be a bit distracted. To help with
November dusting, here are a few commonly overlooked nooks to tackle:
chandelier chains, molding, areas around electric cords, knobs,
curved furniture feet, and plants. (back
